A brighter change - Weeks 14&15

This week, on Wednesday 13th, we had two industry visitors from Creative Assembly come in to give a portfolio review of a select few in our yeargroup and then came around to offer individual feedback to each FMP. Going off of one of Ben's' previous points regarding the mood of the level and the colour of post processing, Rich reiterated this; asking us what the very green fog was. A very valid question, as we couldn't really answer it initially, I guess we just liked it in the first instance and it was quite close to that of our Bilgewater from League of Legends references. However Rich was correct in questioning this, it didn't have much context to the actual level and so we knew we could find a more aesthetically pleasing colour scheme.

Soon enough, we came to the conclusion that a much warmer colour, such as an orange or yellow would work. Alongside this, Chris amplified the exposure of the level and changed the angle of the directional light; offering a much more interesting lighting set-up all around and boosting the 'prettiness' of a lot of the assets in the level. Surprisingly as well, it rid of some of the very harsh shadows and overly saturated that were quite apparent from before.

In my opinion, this has been the most successful amendment of the project. Everything reads so nicely now in comparison, Looking at the two moods comparatively, I feel as though there was no depth previously, The level is feeling really warm now as well, we'll be adding in tropical areas and have decided to scrap the forest from being up above, it will be placed the other side of the river instead.
