Three Months Down - Weeks 16&17

There's only four weeks of our degrees left, pretty terrifying. Luckily though, we're getting there with our level quite swiftly. I've decided to make a Blacksmith to add another hero building in, and have started creating assets for it as well general polish of other assets. Chris has started refining the inside of the cave, and it's looking really cool. We've decided to make this the starting area of the level, otherwise it wouldn't have much context or usage really. I also feel as though people wouldn't know to venture there without being told, which would defeat the purpose of the visual narrative.





To reiterate on a previous point, PBR wasn't a complete right off in our level. Originally we said no to even Normal Maps, but the addition of some roughness and metalness has created a nice blend of styles, that compliment each other. Above and below are two blacksmith assets that were created, and have a PBR setup, resulting in a much better result than with just a diffuse map on them. Being able to blend little elements of realism into the world we're creating is paying off quite nicely, and things are started to look more refined as a result of such a simple change.
